Best-Laid Plans

September 10, 2019

My goal for this blog was to post twice a month (roughly every 2 weeks). The problem is that best-laid plans often go astray. And that has certainly happened in our lives.

Over the past 3 weeks, we have embarked on a journey that everyone hopes will never happen. My wife has been diagnosed with cancer. The past 3 weeks have been a flurry of doctors’ appointments, CT Scans, an MRI, and even connecting with a nutritionist. My poor wife is overwhelmed and caring for her is a daunting task for me.

Treatments begin tomorrow and will consist of radiation treatments every weekday of the next 6 weeks along with chemotherapy to enhance the effectiveness of the radiation. The nutritionist is to help my wife keep her strength up. The plan after the treatments is to give my wife a chance to recover from the treatments so the cancer can be surgically removed. Treatment beyond that is yet to be determined, but the doctors are using the word “cure” in those discussions.

In the meantime, I will attempt to get some postings done. But, caring for my bride of almost 38 years is my top priority. I hope you’ll stick with me because I do have some good topics relating to avoiding college debt in my queue and will be striving to get those posted as best I can.

Stay tuned.

In the meantime, prayers are appreciated for my wife and me. I’ll post progress on the treatments as part of the regular topics for this blog. Thanks for reading.
